About Aleksandra Szymanska
Growing up in a family of Polish farmers, equestrians, and animal lovers, Aleksandra Szymanska developed curiosity and compassion for animals. As a child, she combined her love of all creatures with her passion for drawing and produced numerous sketches and portraits of the family dogs, cats, and horses.
After earning Master’s Degree in psychology from Warsaw University in Warsaw, Poland, Aleksandra worked at horse-assisted therapy centers, where clients could benefit from interacting with horses. She was also exposed to service dogs helping people with emotional problems. This experience firmed up her belief in the healing influence of animals on suffering people.
After many years of pursuing drawing and painting as a hobby, Aleksandra decided to become a professional artist. In 2016, she earned Master’s of Fine Arts Degree with Emphasis on Painting from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, Calif.
Aleksandra’s passion for animals and belief in their healing power are expressed in her oil painting portraits of people accompanied by their beloved pets, where she depicts strong emotional connection between humans and animals.
Aleksandra’s work was shown at several art shows, her painting “They Know” won 1st place at the 2016 New Generation Student Showcase at the de Young Museum in San Francisco. Her portrait “Dreaming of Greatness” won 2nd place at the 2017 Spring Show at the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Aleksandra’s portraits of horses, dogs, and cats are held in many private collections.
